Sue-&-lemonade-stand-ChildrenOur annual BBQ is a time when we see our neighbours new and old.

Starting at 5pm for the younger children and at 7pm its grown-up time with the DJ contributing to the ambiance of the evening. Our usual DJ broke down en route but found a replacement in the nick of time who had a cancellation for a childrens party. Suffice to say, the children had a great engagement until we were reminded it was now grown up time.

We had people arriving from Royal Ascot in full regalia, who then relaxed into the evening with top hats and tails off, discussing how to get better luck on winnings next time. They met others who had the luck of the draw at Ladies Day that week.IMG_2653

Talking hats and coats, Cath Ferguson of elegant shoe fame, was saying how wonderful the neighbourhood WhatsApp had been when she put out the note and pix of her selection. Many of us bought a pair, if not two.

This year two young schoolgirls from our square - Carlotta and Maya, organised a successful Lemonade stand as part of their Glendower Preparatory school project. Donations raised from selling freshly made lemonade, homemade brownies, popcorn, gummies and juices will go to the following charities: Dad’s House, Lia’s Wings, The Dusty Yak and The Glendower Nursery. They want to thank residents for their generous donations!

Next year we will get better signage for the vegetable only BBQ and the No pork one.IMG_2659
