ECSRA AGM 2022
On February 22, some 40 neighbours gathered Upstairs at the Bolton Pub to hear an update from the ECSRA Chairman, Chrissie Courtney, and Hon. Treasurer, Alex Tullett. The annual Magazine promoted the occasion three weeks’ beforehand and posters were erected around the Square to advertise the event. Having received the Chairman’s Report on the Square specifics and the Hon.Treasurer’s Report on ECSRA’s finances, Councillor Malcolm Spalding updated residents on RBKC’s activities such as the Earl’s Court Development Site; the Councillor’s “Call to Action” about ASB/Policing in Earl’s Court; the need for acoustic cameras; the focus on quality for social housing residents; better strategy care for vagrants and the work being done to actively monitor our environment.
The Guest Speaker, The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Gerard Hargreaves, gave an interesting and informative talk on the role of the Mayor, the Mayor’s regalia – which he had brought for residents to view – and the Royal Borough’s mayoral history which dates back to 1901. Kensington is the oldest of the Royal Boroughs and Mr. Rush, who has worked in the Mayor’s Parlour for some 15 years, took us through the significance of the Mace - which he had brought to the meeting. The Mayor and Mr Rush showed the two ceremonial chains and a glamorous 3D printed chain made for him by school children.
The Bolton, headed by Eric, did us proud with the Reception after the meeting, with everyone enjoying a glass of wine and delicious canapés and an opportunity to catch up with their neighbours.
