Chrissie Courtney - Making a difference
Chrissie came to Earl’s Court Square in 2014 and soon after was asked to join the ECSRA committee. In 2016 she became Chairman leading the executive committee for eight years retiring in 2024 to live near her family in Singapore.
Chrissie never shied away from responsibility raising two boys when, as an elected Councillor for a Ward on the New Forest Council, became Chair of the Council’s Leisure and Amenities and served on the Housing and Policy & Resources Committees. When the boys grew up, she helped start up a shipping business in London with them and was the Director responsible for administration and accounts. She helped her son’s initially to move the business to Monaco and then to Singapore and Westport, Connecticut, before returning to the UK, settling in Earl’s Court Square.
Always efficient with the minutes of our ECSRA meetings, very hands-on and active in our events for the Square. Providing sage advice to difficult situations, Chrissie was inclusive and gave credit where credit was due. She was able to take the ECSRA Magazine into the e-magazine arena doing the layouts and helping with the updates to the ECSRA website.
Chrissie ensured we had the best occasion to celebrate ‘the Notables,’ two people who had given a huge commitment in their lives to the betterment of the Square and the people in the wider Earl’s Court area, and two once resident notables, who were chosen for their contribution to the wider world.
Chrissie oversaw the 50th Anniversary of the ECSRA in 2024.
Chrissie was a team player, ‘a rock’ and tireless, she gave a huge amount of time to activities in the Square and demonstrated strong leadership in all she did for ECSRA.
To thank Chrissie, we collaborated on a ‘Chrissie Keepsake’ . A link to this commemorative book will be available on this page soon.
