The fascinating history of the Earl's Court residents' association began in the 1970's when a proposal was put forward by a property developer to turn the Square into a multi story car park. The Square, which along with so many other inner city areas had been sadly neglected for over 30 years, was an open space used by the children of the neighbourhood and as a communal rubbish dump. But the proposal was the catalyst for action and a group of residents got together to find a way to take control of the Square and turn it into a garden that would benefit everyone.
